About the Area

Cape Elizabeth Maine is a wonderful location! Our little coastal town is just a 10 minute drive from the city of Portland, with all of its galleries, restaurants, and amazing shopping!

The following is just a small sampling of things to do in Cape Elizabeth. Please let me know if you’re looking for more advice or have any questions about the area. There are 6 fabulous beaches all within a 20 minute drive from the studio, including the 5-mile long Old Orchard Beach.

My studio is a 5 minute walk to two lovely beaches: One of them a cove, and the other a mile-long State Park Beach called Crescent Beach. Both are very nice swimming spots during the summer, and fun places to find beach glass.

Hop in your car, and a mile away is the Lobster Shack, where you can get fresh caught lobsters, fried clams, or my favorite: fried scallops, just to name a few. Not only is the food a treat, but you’ll eat with one of the best views around! PicMonkey Collage.jpgC10.jpg

Cape Elizabeth is also home to one of the most photographed Lighthouses in the world, Portland Headlight. There is a small shop at Portland Headlight, and an incredible cliff walk, which takes about 30 minutes to walk, if you can avoid sitting & gazing at the water & islands for long periods of time. Portland Headlight is a 10 minute drive from the Studio.

While working at the studio, there are spots to eat within walking distance as well. Right at the end of the yard is a great little cafe that serves all your favorite coffee drinks, and grilled paninis. There are two additional restaurants within a 5 minute stroll from the studio.

Before you leave town, you can stop at our local “pick your own flowers” farm. $5 for a bouquet, all on the honor system. It’s a lovely way to end any day!
